As Secretary of our allotment I'm trying to find some new people to take over some of our vacant plots. We have full-size spaces of about 30X40', priced £50 per year and half-size plots around 30X20' which cost £25 per year. The plots are currently untenanted and do require a bit of digging but the site is lovely and we're a great group of gardeners to work alongside. We also practice Organic gardening so you won't have to worry about any pesticides or inorganic fertilisers making their way onto your tasty home-grown fruit and vegetables. DeleteI hope you get the empty plots taken. There is nothing more sad than a neglected allotment among some loved ones.
ReplyDeleteMy son and his wife are coming over to IOM on April 2nd on a very early ferry. They will be staying in a friends flat in Castletown but I intend to give them the location of your farmers' market so thatif they are in the area they can make contact on the day.
That's great about your son and daughter-in-law coming by that week. What is unfortunate is that I'm going down to doing the Thursday Farmer's market bi-weekly which means I won't be working that week. But I'd love to take them out for a coffee if they have time. Or even show them around Laxey and the allotment here :)

DeleteHope you get takers for the empty plots. Here in Dublin I am paying 100 euro per year for my plot which is about the size of one of your half-size plots.

They are fairly pricey to begin with in general but we don't have to pay rent to our landlord for the time being so are able to keep the rents very low.
